Three ways to work with a US skincare manufacturer

BioB Manufacturing makes skin, hair and body care for brands that want a formula of their own. The route depends on how much of the formula already exists.

Custom formulation

You bring a brief, a benchmark product or an ingredient list. Our formulators develop the product, sample it until you approve, and fix the specification in writing. The formula is yours and no other brand can order it.

Modified catalog formula

Start from one of our existing skin care formulations and change the actives, the extract system, the texture or the fragrance. Faster than full development, with the same documentation.

Private label

Your brand on a catalog formula that is already in the market, made to order rather than from stock. The quickest route to a first lot.
Private label skin care →

Serums

Gel, emulsified and oil-based serums at every viscosity from water-thin to concentrated treatment, in droppers, airless pumps and treatment bottles.
Serum manufacturing →

Creams, lotions and body care

Emulsions from light daily lotion through rich night cream and balm, plus body lotions and hand care in larger fills.
Cream manufacturing →

Oils, mists and hair care

Botanical and treatment oils, facial mists and toners, and shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatments that share the same extract library.
Cosmetic contract manufacturing →

Minimum order quantities and lead time

Custom and private label skin care run on the same minimums: 5,000 units per SKU for fills under 8 oz and 2,500 units for fills of 8 oz and larger. Lead time is about 12 weeks from approved formula and packaging to finished goods. Custom development adds the time it takes to reach an approved sample, which depends on the brief.

What custom skin care development includes

A custom formula at BioB is built around botanical extracts we produce ourselves, so the active system, its documentation and its supply are all under one roof.

Brief and benchmark

We start from your target: a product you want to match or beat, an ingredient story, a texture, a claims position. The scope call fixes format, fill size, volume and timing.

Extract selection

Glycerin, water, alcohol-free and propylene glycol extracts from our own library, standardized where the botanical allows, with a technical data sheet and safety data sheet for each.

Formulation and samples

Our formulators build the base, the preservation system and the sensory profile, then sample until you approve. The preliminary quote comes before sampling so the numbers are known first.

Specification sign-off

The approved sample becomes a written specification with a test panel: appearance, pH, viscosity, microbiology and the identity tests for the actives. Release is against that document.

Packaging

Droppers, airless pumps, jars, tubes, bottles and sprayers sourced from our component suppliers or supplied by you. Component availability is named in the quote because it drives the date.

Ownership

A custom formula is yours. No other brand can order it, and the specification travels with you.

Why brands choose BioB as their skincare manufacturer

We make the botanical extracts

Botanical extraction in house since 1972, in the same building as the filling line. Sourced globally, made in New York, so traceability of the actives starts with us rather than a broker.

Made fresh to order

No white label stock. Every lot is manufactured when you order it and ships with its full shelf life.

Minimums you can plan around

5,000 units per SKU under 8 oz and 2,500 units at 8 oz and above, stated on this page rather than confirmed later.

One US site

A single 160,000 sq ft FDA-registered facility in New York. No import step, no tariff variable, no offshore transit between you and a stockout.

On-site QC and microbiology

Identity, assay and micro testing in house with HPLC, UPLC-MS/MS, GC/MS, LC/MS and ICP/MS, so release does not wait on an outside laboratory.

We tell you what you own

The MoCRA responsibility split is set out before the quote, so your brand knows whether it is the Responsible Person before signing, not after.

Quality, documentation and MoCRA

Under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act, the brand that markets a skin care product is normally the Responsible Person. A skincare manufacturer has to give that brand what the role requires: a registered facility, product listing information, batch records, a specification and a certificate of analysis for every lot.

What BioB holds

FDA facility registration, NSF GMP and FSSC 22000 certification, the master formula and batch records, the release test results for every lot, and the raw material documentation for every extract we produce.

What your brand holds

The product listing with FDA, the safety substantiation file, labeling and adverse event records. We supply the manufacturing-side information that file depends on, in writing, before the first run.

Certifications

NSF GMP, FSSC 22000, FDA-registered facility, USDA Organic, Kosher and Halal. Certification scope is confirmed per product at quote.

Documentation with every lot

Certificate of analysis against the agreed specification, batch record summary, and the technical and safety data sheets for the extracts used.

Label review

You supply the artwork; we check the ingredient declaration and panel against the product before the run.

Topicals and supplements together

Serums, creams and lotions alongside liquid supplements, capsules and oral care. One vendor, one quality system, one documentation package.

Working with a skincare manufacturer: common buyer questions

What is the difference between a skincare manufacturer and a private label supplier?

A private label supplier sells you its own formula under your brand. A skincare manufacturer can also develop a formula that is yours alone. BioB does both: private label from the catalog, and custom formulation to your specification or benchmark.

How long does custom formulation take?

It depends on the brief. A modified catalog formula usually reaches an approved sample faster than a product developed from scratch. Once the formula and packaging are approved, production is about 12 weeks to finished goods.

What are your minimum order quantities?

5,000 units per SKU for fills under 8 oz and 2,500 units for fills of 8 oz and larger, for custom and private label alike.

Who owns a custom formula?

You do. A formula developed to your specification is not offered to any other brand, and the written specification is yours.

Can you match a product I already sell?

Yes. Send the benchmark and the ingredient list. We will tell you at the scope call what we can match, what we would change and why, and quote before any sample is made.

Do you make the botanical extracts in your formulas?

Yes. BioB is the contract manufacturing division of Bio-Botanica, which has produced botanical extracts in Hauppauge, New York since 1972. The extracts in your product and the product itself are made in the same facility under the same quality system.

Who is the Responsible Person under MoCRA?

Normally the brand. BioB registers and maintains the facility with FDA and supplies the batch records, specification and COA. The brand, as Responsible Person, lists the product with FDA and holds the safety substantiation file. We supply the manufacturing-side information that file depends on.

What testing is done before release?

Each lot is tested against the agreed specification: appearance, pH, viscosity, microbiology and the identity tests for the actives, run in our on-site laboratory, and released with a certificate of analysis.

Can you supply packaging?

Yes. We source droppers, airless pumps, jars, tubes, bottles and sprayers from our component suppliers, or fill into components you supply. Component lead time is set out in the quote because it is the usual driver of the delivery date.

What certifications does the facility hold?

NSF GMP, FSSC 22000, FDA registration, USDA Organic, Kosher and Halal, in Hauppauge, New York. The scope that applies to a specific product is confirmed at quote.
